First Coaching! (Coaching #1, Healthy Meals #21 and #22, Dance Class #8)

Today Haidee and I got together and we worked on all of my voice lesson rep for this semester, making sure I had the correct notes and rhythms for every song! I picked all contemporary pieces, so they can be tricky!

Also, we were mad that we had to take a picture... So, here is a picture of us making grouchy faces! :)

Also, note that my healthy meal #1 for the day is in my hand, a delicious and energizing copycat Island Green Smoothie! I added some kale to the spinach, pineapple, and mango and I even added a little coconut milk for a bit of creaminess today!

This afternoon I had class with Cherie again, and it was such a good preparation for my closing night of Chicago!

We started doing floor barre which I LOVE, it gets me so centered and grounded. I always have a better class when we start this way! Then, we did some really fun combinations center floor, focusing on control and balance in the adagio and power and strength in the grande allegro!

My second healthy meal of the day was a Chicken Spinach Salad from Pandora's with walnuts and cranberries added! And, as usual, I rejected the dressing in favor of a little olive oil.

Today's daily practice was a focus on trying to get my head voice back! I've been over-utilizing my chest voice, and my throat hasn't fully recovered since I've been doing a show on top of my sickness! So I really wanted to focus on that and gently work those muscles again.

Minutes: 45

Repertoire: The Light in the Piazza

Technique Worked: I had to work a lot to get a hang of those rhythms switches that are so complicated, because, duh, it's Adam Guettel. I also worked on getting the air flowing up behind that soft palate and getting it forward to brighten up my head voice.

Musicality Worked: I really had to work on the connection of these lines, because they seem simple but have to be crafter so carefully to be smooth and sustained and as beautiful as they need to be!

Now, on to strike!
