*I also didn't have time to pull out the super fancy camera today, sorry my food pictures aren't as staged as usual! ;)
Healthy Meal #9
Dance Class: Jazz with the wonderful Natalie!
Natalie's classes can be so tough because her style of movement is meant to challenge your body and sometimes even trick it into direction changes it doesn't naturally want to do.... at least my body doesn't want to, anyway! The real challenge is finding your individuality and your ability to still move in a BIG WAY, even when your brain is a little scared and wants you to back off.... Natalie is all about passion, style, and GOING FOR IT. (even when you think you might fall, which we definitely have all done before in her class!)
Healthy Meal #10
Look, I was studying my lines for Chicago as I ate!
This meal was super simple, I just baked some brussels sprouts and re-heated some leftover grilled chicken from the other night! Yay for lean protein and veggies!
When all the roommates were gone this morning, I prepared for my voice lesson next week since my parents will be in town for the weekend!
Daily Practice:
Minutes: 40
Repertoire: "The Light in the Piazza"
Technique Worked: Sometimes when I'm thinking "classical" I forget to add some of that forward music theatre sound, too! My voice teacher gave me an awesome trick to combat this, singing the song on "deet" until my vocal resonance is in the right place. I swear it's magic, it makes more legit music theatre so much easier for me! Anyhow, I worked on that for a long time and then I really focused on the support in the held out high notes!
Musicality Worked: I absolutely DIE for Adam Geuttel. He's my Sondheim.... (sorry, Sondheim, different strokes for different folks!) His phrasing is the most gorgeous, expressive, storytelling music I have ever heard, and I really wanted to do justice to his work in this song. Therefore I checked the rhythms and notes and then I really worked on finding the legato line and the specific phrasing in the breath.
Ugh that took way longer than I intended to!
Thanks for catching up with me!
XOXO
