Fortune was not on my side today, and I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrendous sore throat.... I got myself to the doctor first thing in the morning, and she said it's laryngitis... big frowny face. :(
So, instead of posting healthy meals today (because I haven't exactly eaten) I'm posting my schedule of healing remedies!
8:45 am-- Vitamins and Wellness Formula
10:15 am-- Zinc cough drop, mucus thinning cough suppressant, 34 oz smart water, chamomile tea with honey
11:45 am-- Jasmine tea with honey
12:45 pm- chloraseptic drop (I know that I shouldn't take it, but I couldn't stand the pain in my throat any longer. I made a compromise with myself that I wouldn't make a single sound for the next hour after taking it.)
1:45 pm-- zinc cough drop, 34 oz smart water
2:15 pm-- Salt water gargle, "Mara's Magic Tea" (green tea, apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon), mucus thinning cough suppressant
5:00 pm-- NAP TIME! for twenty minutes
6:00 pm-- mucus thinning cough suppressant, chloraseptic drop
This might be useless to outline for you, but I've found a lot of useful tips for getting rid of laryngitis! I've tried to hit as many as possible, including lemon, apple cider vinegar, tea with honey, salt water gargle, and supplements along with as much hydration as possible. There was one site that recommended cutting a garlic clove in half and sucking on it like a lozenge... I just couldn't get on board with that.
Now I just have to pray to god that my voice comes back soon! I'm VERY nervous.
For my daily practice, I couldn't really do anything but review music.
Minutes: 45
Repertoire: "City" by Sara Bareilles
Technique Worked: It's hard to make sure you've memorized a song when you can't sing through it, so I spent extra long listening to the music and following along in the sheet music, trying to wean myself off of the lyrics and eventually knowing every word and rhythm.
Musicality Worked: I did some research by watching Sara Bareilles's live performances on youtube. She's an incredible performer, and I could really learn some things by watching her. I'm hopefully going to be performing this sometime soon with my Mix class, and I want to do justice to this song because it's my favorite of hers. I've seen Sara perform live twice, and I want to see her again! She was so incredible, the way she was so accessible and vulnerable with the audience. Her star power on stage is intensely palpable, it even comes through on the videos.
Thanks for bearing with me on this sick day! I'll update you on my health tomorrow!
XOXO
