The Last Day (Dance Class #12, Time in Nature #4, Demo!)

Finally! I have made it to the last day of the 30 Day Challenge! Fortunately, all I had to accomplish today was my last time in nature, my last dance class, and my LAST DAILY PRACTICE! Oh, and I've got to finally rip it off like a bandaid and post this demo link... sigh.

We'll go with the demo first, I finally have a soundcloud account and have uploaded my version of Good Girl. Here we go: https://soundcloud.com/jadi-rae-curtis/good-girl-demo

Next, we have the last dance class of the Challenge! We had class with Natalie today, and she is looking absolutely ferocious in this picture... ugh! Today we did a quickie warmup, a homesteading-meets-jazz combination, and then worked on our final projects, for which my group is studying a work of Katherine Dunham's named "Southland". She was a super cool lady... and I would like to add that Natalie's "quickie warmup" killed me and the combination was fast and furious! It was a quick study day, so we practiced our ability to pick up combinations quickly, and it was definitely an exercise in power, strength, and....just going for it.

Hey, ain't we pretty ladies?

After classes today, it started to RAIN! I was sad at first because I had wanted to do my last session in nature. I remembered this amazing park that's surprisingly near campus! I grabbed my umbrella and spent time under cover with the rain coming down around the gazebo, relaxing from the day and reading my book. Most people think that I really HATE rain.... but in reality I just hate getting caught in it! From the comfort of the gazebo, I was perfectly happy watching the rain come down, seeing how the gray sky seemed to soften the landscape and make the colors seem even more saturated. Everything was incredibly green and the atmosphere was so moody. I was definitely in my happy place this afternoon.

AND NOW... for my last daily practice!

Minutes: 35

Repertoire: Annie's Party

Technique Worked: Getting that forward placement and brightness in the sound, elongating the vowels, and getting my tongue into the correct position! I really think this new idea of making the "ee" shape with my tongue is my new secret weapon, it's the only thing that keeps it from getting tight!

Musicality: I feel as though I have analyzed this song a lot musically, but I haven't really thought of what it means to me as a storyteller. I had to do a lot of digging emotionally to finally understand how I might connect with it on a more personal level, but I think I've got it!

AND NOW I AM DONE!
Wow, what a ride it has been.
Thanks for following my 30 Day Challenge Blog!
